Agriturismo Lazio

What is agritourism? Simply put - a nice combination between farm activities and travel. Wherever you go in the world, no matter what world-famous sights you visit, the culinary memories are always the brightest. So how can you forget the aroma of freshly baked bread with fresh butter, served with real milk and nice greasy cheese. You will always remember this taste if you took part in milking the milk and kneaded the pie together with the hostess. This is agritourism. If you spend a whole day, you will be able to pick from the rural blackberries, cook jam and go home with a jar of Armagan. With the same excitement you can pick grapes and while you eat jam, the farmer will tell you how these juicy berries turn into a wonderful wine, from which you can take a bottle and blissfully share it with a loved one. Do you want to experience all of this? Then take a look at our agriturismo Lazio and you will even get much more!

Vegetation

The vegetation of Lazio presents considerable diversity. In fact, Lazio is the region with the greatest biodiversity in Italy. Endemic species are present in large numbers in the limestone part(Montagne della Duchessa Nature Reserve, Monte Cervia and Navegna Nature Reserve, Monti Simbruini, Terminillo).

As regards the coastal strip, there are two situations: in the area where there are marshes and lakes, local vegetation has developed; along the littoral and sandy sublittoral the vegetation is almost nil, while if you move to the internal dunes you can find the Agrotype, jiunchiform plants, grasses, etc. Some dunes, thanks to the presence of rosemary and heather, appear a brighter red color in spring than the others. Immediately after the dunes the pine forest is the master with the presence of the maritime pine and the domestic pine. The largest pine forests are found in Fregene, Castelfusano and Fondi.

With regard to the hilly and mountainous belt we can distinguish three areas: the Mediterranean scrub; the prairie or steppe; the wood and the high wood. Nowadays the scrub has almost disappeared, with the exception of the presence in the Circeo National Park of oak groves mixed with ash, cork, holm oak and a rich undergrowth. Even in the other areas of lower Lazio the scrub has almost been eradicated.

In the flat area there is a steppe or prairie and the Mediterranean scrub is sporadic. On the Lazio hills the scrub is almost extinct, and where it occurs it reaches heights between 600 and 700 meters above sea level with a prevalence of holm oak. A characteristic feature of the Lazio steppe or prairie is the asphodel prairie where the blooming lily is of remarkable beauty.

The mountain vegetation of Lazio is very varied. On the Terminillo, around 1440 - 1750 meters above sea level, beech trees predominate(denser in the north), mixed with meadows in the south. In Terminillo there are no conifers and the prairie is made up of grasses, cypresses, mitirlli, etc. Altitude pastures are very common in Terminillo. Also on the Ernici and the Simbruini the beach predominates and there are no conifers. Other vegetation present in Lazio is the Mesembrianthenum in the area of Gaeta, the prickly pear in southern Lazio, the dwarf palm in the area of Terracina and on the shores of Lake Vico, the Eucalyptus in the woods of the Lazio Maremma and near Rome. In the Ponziane islands the vegetation is scarce and there is both wood and scrub. The spontaneous vegetation of the islands is mainly broom, wormwood and wild asparagus.

Animal world

Due to the reclamation of its territory, the disappearance of the scrub and the wood, the fauna in Lazio has undergone considerable changes. Much of it has withdrawn into the Apennine and Sub-Apennine parts. The lynx and the bear are of dubious presence even if sightings have been made in the mountains of Campoli(Frosinone) and in the Montagne della Duchessa. The wolf, but today the disappearance of the scrub has made the wolf withdraw in the Apennines between Lazio and Abruzzo. The wild cat is also present in Lazio in the upper Cicolano and in the Lazio Maremma. Other characteristic animals of Lazio are: wild boar, roe deer, red deer, fox, weasel, stone marten, marten, badger and otter.

The reptiles in Lazio consist of a large number. There is the worm in the prairies near the sea, the green lizard, the wall lizard and the country lizard, the Colubro di Escupalio, the rat snake, the common viper(in the scrub and in the rocky areas) and the frogs(in the marshes). In Lazio there are many insects such as butterflies, ants, bees, wasps, snails, cavaletee, etc. The Apennine areas of Lazio are very important, in fact here the birds engaged in the migrations of northern Europe to Africa find rest.

What to do in Lazio?

The Riviera Lazio remains one of the busiest and most picturesque resort areas in Italy, it is an ideal holiday destination for those who prefer to spend a significant part of their vacation on hot beaches. The most popular beaches are located in Ostia, in the immediate vicinity of Rome. The coast is well equipped for a comfortable pastime, it is always crowded and has a rather noisy atmosphere. Connoisseurs of secluded relaxation will like the coastal town of Anzio more; the beaches here are very gentle and surprisingly calm. There are many beautiful walking areas near the coast; the city is famous for its amazing nature.

Fans of water sports will not be bored on vacation, as Volcanic Lakes have been in demand among them for many years. Bracciano and Bolsena are freshwater lakes, all conditions for sports entertainment are created here. Lake Vico is located on the territory of a vast nature reserve. It is a natural object, unique in its beauty and ecological characteristics.

Optimal time to visit the country

Italy is located in the center of Southern Europe, so the weather in its vastness is quite comfortable all year round. In summer there are quite high temperatures, but the presence of four seas softens even the hottest weather, adding sea freshness. Winter is quite mild, without heavy snowfalls and frosts. Therefore, you can plan your trip at any time of the year. It all depends on what kind of rest is your main goal. The highest season in Italy starts in the second half of May. During this period, the weather becomes quite stable and warm, the water warms up to comfortable indicators. In the south of the country, the beach season begins in mid-May. With the onset of summer, the flow of tourists to Italy increases even more. With the onset of autumn, a delightful velvet season begins on the southern coasts of Italy, when the daytime air temperature becomes more comfortable for a beach holiday.
