Nature 2000 is a nature project developed by the European Community, which designates areas of high ecological value, which together form an interconnected network of valuable natural areas. There is a butterfly valley, where rare butterflies are being observed, such as the multicoloured 'Dikkopje', the 'Red Firefly' and the 'Black Hairstreak'. But that's not it. At the park, 22 rare plants, birds, mammals and amphibians have been observed during a recent study for the protection of nature in the park. Of course, these 22 special specimens live next to a wide range of other equally beautiful species! The park is located in the town of Izier. Izier belongs to the municipality of Durbuy. Durbuy is located at the Ourthe river in the heart of the Ardennes. Durbuy is a charming picturesque authentic town with a cozy square and it has many historic buildings. Furthermore, you will find many cozy terraces and shops where you can usually buy local delights and products from the region. Visiting ''the smallest city in the world'' is definitely recommended. The surrounding nature offers many possibilities for hikers and cyclists. On the Ourthe you can go kayaking and rafting.
