Welcome in this cosy rural hut for four people. The ruralhut lies in the Small Apennines between Parma and La Spezia, at the edge of the beautiful nature reserve. It is an authentic farmhouse built from natural stone dating back to 1869 and lies at the Via Francigena, which is the old pilgrim route running from Canterbury to Rome well known for its trade, cultural and artistic exchange in Europe. The house is privately located. The terrace and the fenced garden have sunny and shaded areas during the whole day and there is a panorama view over the green valley, where you can find hares, pheasants, squirrels or sometimes wild boars or deer. Pets are welcome and smoking is permitted. For peace seekers, lovers of space and nature, the ruralhut is the perfect place to spend your holidays.

For many years, the landlords have spent their holidays in different regions of Italy. Their encounter with the Valtaro and Valceno, with the valley of the rivers of Taro and Ceno was love at the first sight due to its untouched nature, non-touristic flair and welcoming people. The valleys of Taro and Ceno are located in the Apennines in the province of Parma, the region of Emilia Romagna in the triangle of Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and Liguria, at about 500 meter above sea level. From April until October, the climate is very pleasant, whereas, in the winter, snowfalls from 20-30 centimeter are entirely normal. The Valtaro lies at approximately 40 minute car ride and 50 minute away from the Tuscan and Ligurian coasts with the port city of La Spezia, the picturesque peninsula Cinque Terre and the coastal towns Lerici, Portovenere and Montorosso. La Spezia, the coastal town in Cinque Terre is reachable either via the motorway (A15) or via the beautiful route passing through the Passo di Cento Croci. It is also possible to take the train from the station of Borgotaro, the capital of Valtaro. The station of Borgotaro has good parking possibilities (for free). The nearest airports are Pisa (70 minute drive), Milano and Bologna (90min). In the surrounding area of Borgotaro, there are several old castles to visit such as in Bardi, Varsi and Companiano. Both the river of Taro and Ceno offer a range of activities such as canoeing, swimming and fishing.
