The immediate surroundings offer large continuous woods, in which you can wander endlessly without meeting anyone, alternating with vast fields in which stray pieces of woodland form green islands that the wildlife gratefully uses as a base. Kingfishers skim under the medieval bridge over the Serein like bright blue dots, looking for a fish, deer grazing on the fields or, if you are lucky, badgers foraging at dusk, just like the wild boars that you are sure to run into. In spring, there is a sea of wild flowers to discover in the woods and fields, including at least ten different types of orchids. The peace and quiet is overwhelming.
