The house is located in a settlement near the center of the village of El Boalo (approx. 5 minutes' walk). It is located at around 1000 meters above sea level at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range. From the house you can see the 2227 meter high Maliciosa. From here you have a good connection to the center of Madrid, which is about 45 km away. If you are coming directly from the airport, I recommend renting a car there. It will take you 45 minutes by car and from the house you can do a lot of hiking directly into the mountains or go for a bike ride through the countryside. It will surprise you to experience such a rural area so close to a city of 3 million. This is because the mountains are part of a huge nature reserve. A hike along the Manzanares river in La Pedriza is highly recommended. You can also go climbing there. But please NEVER do this alone. If you prefer horse riding, you're in luck. There are riding stables nearby.

The landscape diversity offered by the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares Regional Park is closely linked to the traditional uses that were developed and continue to be practiced in the region in which it is located. Livestock farming on ash and oak pastures and the extraction of firewood and charcoal were very important in the traditional economy of the region and a human element with great influence on the current landscape. The harmony achieved between the development of the local population and the conservation of the natural environment led to this Regional Park becoming part of the International Network of Biosphere Reserves in 1992. The main interests for its conservation are the presence of endangered species, the proximity to a large urban core, the existence of traditional agricultural systems and unique representative landscapes.
