Chalet Baden-Württemberg
Germany’s countryside is wild and untamed. Baden-Württemberg is one of the biggest and densely populated provinces in Germany, where Stuttgart is its capital. It is located to the south and borders France to the south. The province has a huge importance for the German and European nature as this place is the starting point to some of the biggest and most important rivers in Europe. The German nature of Baden-Württemberg is truly enchanting; you will not make a mistake by choosing it for your next nature-related adventure in Europe.
The holiday homes we offer are mostly chalets. The chalets are provided with all contemporary amenities while managing to create a traditional German atmosphere. The location is always amazing- near a forest or on a small hill with great views, wild nature surrounding your chalet and creating a peaceful bliss left for you to enjoy during your stay.
The nature of South Germany
Baden-Württemberg is home to the famous Black Forest mountain (or Schwarzwald). This mountain begins from the Rhine valley to the East. Technically, the river Danube is also considered to flow from here, there is even an official origin, known as Donauquelle. However, river Danube does not originate from Schwarzwald, as the place of its origin is in fact the meeting point of two different rivers – Breg and Brigach.
To the south of the Black Forest, right at its border lies the third largest lake in Central Europe – Bodensee or also known as Lake Constance. Located on the north foot of the Alps and on the water of the river Rhine, the shores of this lake are located in 3 different countries. Yes, you can tell your friends that you have been to all three of them – Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Except for unforgettable panoramas, this lake offers access to more than 200 tributaries and around 10 islands. Some of the islands are populated and even have a railway built, while others despite being larger are still uninhabited and recognized as nature reserves.
Activities
One of locals’ favorite weekend adventures and an amazing way to reach some of the best views in Baden-Württemberg, the Hochstrasse scenic route is a must. Travel on this route and enjoy panoramas of the Black forest and the Mummelsee lake. There are plenty of stops along the way, where you could take pictures or even picnic. There are also hiking trails available around the lake and into the woods, as well as eating options – numerous diners and bistros along the scenic route.
A great way to experience both German culture and the nature of Baden-Württemberg is to take the Philosopher’s Walk. The hiking path is located on the north bank of the river Neckar, near Heidelberg. The path follows the river through the vineyards and is named in such an interesting way, as it was a favorite spot for a peaceful walk for philosophers centuries ago. The path will lead you to the best sceneries in the regions, amazing views of Heidelberg and its Old Town, as well as the famous Heidelberg Castle. The longer route option will eventually lead you into the forest where you will see some of the tallest trees in Europe.
