Nature

In the spring, when the winter sports season is over, the snow starts melting and the Austrian nature comes back to life. The white becomes green, the rivers and lakes thaw, and birds return to breed. Thanks to the differences in altitude and climate, the number of plant species in this country is very diverse. Like Finland, Austria is one of the most forested countries in Europe. It has broadleaf woodlands, but also dense pine forests. Book a cottage in Austria in a hilly forested region and marvel at the beautiful scenic nature from your window. The gentle hills and valleys uncover breathtaking views of green meadows, while the higher lands have acres of screen with dwarf shrubs and colorful variety of flowers, lichens, and fungi. Even in the coldest areas you can find valuable plant species like the beautiful snow-white edelweiss.

Many of the plant species are rare and protected. By renting one of the holiday houses in Austria, you will be even closer to these natural wonders. Austrians love decorating their homes and gardens according to specific themes. By looking at their front doors, you can usually tell what time of the year it is. Easter is no exception. Brightly coloured hand painted eggs hang from trees and shrubs, while colourful spring flowers bloom in pots resembling hens or eggs. The weather in March and April can be very unpredictable. You can walk around with bare arms at Easter markets, enjoying the lovely spring sunshine. But you can also get to experience full winter gear, including hats, scarves, and gloves. Expect any weather no matter what the forecasts say and pack accordingly for Easter in Austria.
