Your holiday in a Swedish stuga

Staying with Nature.House means that you’ll be surrounded by pristine nature. Hide deep in the woods and get away from it all. The forest may seem silent, but just stop and listen to the cracking sounds, chirping birds, buzzing insects - you’ll discover a place full of life. Or book a lakeside stuga and tune into the calming atmosphere. Whatever you decide, one thing is for sure - you’ll be able to enjoy a soulful and active retreat away from the crowds.

The landscapes of Sweden

With its diverse nature and a vast wilderness, Sweden is a great destination for outdoor activities. The landscapes of the north are rugged and mountainous, while the south is predominantly made of undulating woodlands and plains. Interesting facts - forests in Sweden cover a whole two thirds of the whole land. But what do you think is even more impressive? The country is home to just about 100,000 lakes and more than 200,000 islands! The sea, lakes, bubbling streams, wild rivers, and roaring ravines create the perfect backdrop for adventures on water.

What to do during your holiday in a stuga?

Water activities and sports

River paddling, kayaking, and canoeing are the most popular sports on water. Are you an expert looking for a wild adventure? Travel to the Arctic north of Lapland and find one of the steep ravines to find yourself a real challenge. The wild waters passing through narrow paths offer a thrilling experience even to the most skillful experts. If you’re still up for a fun kayaking or canoeing trip, then the western coastline of Sweden is a good suggestion for you. There are more than 8,000 islands that stop the wind from ruining your water adventure, making the place perfect for leisurely paddling. What might surprise you is that paddling in the winter is also possible. Glide through the ice waters and marvel at the white snowy landscapes of rocks and cliffs. The wild experiences don’t end with river paddling. You can also test your courage and go ice-swimming.  You can try bathing in the freezing water and then going straight to the sauna of your stuga. As crazy as it is, it is actually a famous tradition in Finland.

Hiking in Sweden

The people who would love a holiday in Sweden are definitely the hikers. The country offers many hiking trails that continue for hundreds of kilometers. Even if you decide to take The King’s Trail (Kungsleden in Swedish) that is 440km long, you can use one of the many existing trails and end your walk faster. The best thing is that the trails are always kept in good condition, and they offer right guidance. As the southern, more gentle part of Sweden is less visiter by foreign hikers it will be a bit more challenging to find the right direction at times. Still, don’t let this dissuade you from a rewarding hike. Follow one of the southern picturesque paths that go through rolling hills and plains, dense forests, and sandy beaches. Oftentimes you’ll stumble upon a lake to find a nice calming place to rest.
