Farms in Turkey

Turkey is a country famous for the beautiful combination of oriental and western elements which it proudly shows to visitors. The biggest city, Istanbul, has been turned into an economic and trade hub particularly loved by tourists. You can visit a thousand-years-old building in the afternoon and then have dinner in a Michelin-star restaurant with a luxurious interior and helicopter pad. The countryside on the other hand is very typical – smaller buildings, many farms and traditional countryside living.

If you choose to visit Turkey on your next trip and dive into the oriental landscape of this country, then consider staying in a farm. This is one of the best ways to discover the nature and rich culture of Turkey. In the farms, the hosts will make sure you are comfortable on your stay and have everything needed to enjoy the country. Be prepared to try some delicious local dishes, as the Turks are generally very hospitable and love welcoming guests with food and sweets. The farms produce different kinds of vegetables and other crops, as well as animal products such as milk or butter. You can also learn more about the traditional farming processes, some of which are still used today.

Turkey’s stunning nature

Among the country’s many beautiful places for you to explore, we strongly suggest you try Dilek National Park. This protected area is located near one of the most popular seaside resorts Kusadasi, right on the edge of the Aegean Sea. Dilek is a mountainous peninsula with canyons and lush green valleys. Natural wonders with historical and cultural significance to the local population are hiding behind every corner! The coastal formations have become a home to lovely Mediterranean flora and many bird and animal species.

The Butterfly Valley is another stunning spot near the sea. Located near Fethiye, it represents a rocky valley covered with pines which are home to more than 100 butterfly species. The diversity of vegetation will also surprise you – lemons, olives, pomegranates and other fruits, nuts and even spices, all of which are wild, are growing in the valley. The most remarkable aspect of this protected area is its landscape – the valley is practically surrounded by hills more than 300 m high! Enjoy the area where you will find crystal waters, a pebble beach, a small waterfall and hundreds of flower species.

Activities to try

Head to the Black Sea region to explore the wild area of Ikizdere. At the foot of Kackar Mountain you will find 3 tourist centers where eco paths begin. In the area, the paths will take you to two beautiful waterfalls – Akirgel and Balikli. Both are gigantic, but Akirgel is a preferred destination which will awe you with its stunning 75 m of height.

Of course, there is no way for us not to mention riding a hot air balloon in Cappadocia. This is probably one of the distinctive symbols of Turkey and a great way to get a bird’s eye view of an interesting part of the Turkish territories. Along almost all Turkish coastlines, water activities such as scuba diving and snorkeling are practiced almost as a religion. Windsurfing and kiteboarding are also enjoyable and there are a few places perfect for these sports such as Gokceada Island.
